Govt To Restore, Reopen Historic Sikh Temples Soon

In Jhelum, a Sikh temple dating back to 1834 Was reopened after almost 70 years of abandonment. The ETPB hosted the opening ceremony and vowed to restore the lost glory of the temple.

Located at the northern edge of Rohtas Fort, the temple is called ‘Gurdwara of the exalted spring’.

It is believed to be the site where Guru Nanak Davji, the founder of Sikh religion, revealed a natural spring during his voyage with Bhai Mardana in scorching summers of 1521.

The said spring still sprouts water Officials who spoke on the occasion shared that Sikh devotee from all over the world wished for the restoration of the temple.

The preservation of the temple is a step in the right direction as it will help strengthen interfaith harmony in the country.
