Peer Baba
A Believer’s Perspective
Har Zarra Dil Ban Jaata Hai, Har Cheez Nazar Ho Jaati Hai
Jis Simt Woh Nazarein Uthti Hain, Kaunein Udhar Ho Jaati Hai
The Dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti (R.A.) at Ajmer has made this small town the epicentre of love and devotion for devotees from across the world. And Khwaja Saheb’s blessing is such that every soul who comes here to pay his respects to Khwaja Saheb finds freedom from all miseries.
Throughout the centuries, Khwaja Saheb’s principles and virtues have been passed onto others in search of the eternal truth by his descendants. Among them is one such divine voice and a mentor to thousands, Peer Baba Syed Sameer Chishti (Shah) Saheb. His simplicity is itself a message to his followers. He lives and breathes Khwaja Saheb’s message of love and devotion in his every action. And this comes as a natural extension of Peer Baba’s unequalled love for Khwaja Saheb.

Hi Raza,
Fantastic articles as always!

Very much appreciated.

Somewhere I read your very sound article about the attitude of the elite to the assault by the Taliban. Talibanisation is not what the elite or the overwhelming public wants and yet we are unable to resist then. It seems most of us are hot air baloons. All talk and no action.
Good luck

Mahmud : This brings one to the core question. The power of evil (street power / goons / mob-violence weilding swords and shouting… with the police looking the other way… ) VERSUS the power of good. It is not enough for the good, to be simply good… and expect someone “else” to take care of them… and protect them from the mob-violence of “evil”. The good must not only be good in head and heart., but be strong enough to stand up and fight. THAT is the core essence of the spirit of Jihad. The guts and the grit … never to accept what is wrong… but to stand up against it… and resist the wrong… with all the might at one’s disposal. It can be soft power… it can be hard power… it can be intellectual power… it can be “science” as a tool.. etc. etc.
It is not enough to be good., and hide behind Arundhati Roy’s Pallu when mobs of Narendra Modi come to rape., mutilate and burn alive innocent mobs ! Death is certain… but the “good” must come out… and stand up… and face the evil… and die not begging… but “fighting”. THAT is the essence of Jihad.
If someone is allergic to the word “Jihad”, replace it with self-respect… and self-awareness. Never give in to the wrong. Fight… and there are a hundred tools to fight. Use every single one of them. Dont make it easy for the “evil goondas” to conquer lands by terrifying people… Defeat these gang-lords who maintain private armies (Senas)… Only then can peace reign in a society… otherwise evil will prevail.

Excuse me I was wondering if you happened to have a daughter called Moniza? As I believe it to be unlikely that two people called Alvi from Pankistan can write poems. As we are wondering who Moniza Alvi’s father is. Is it you? I hope you can clear up this little conundrum.
Thank you for your assistance
Nice poems

Hon’ble Sir,
Jai Hind
This world is full of purities & impurities and we in the race of materialistic needs never get time to think about our motherland and environment. We are so busy that we never think about anything apart from our family and materialistic requirements. Do we know the truth of the flowers, which we dedicate to our Lord ” The Creator of this world”?
Sir, if you find any truth in the above illustration, let us feel the strength of your conviction by your participation in this Spiritual Mission.
We are presently organizing a 108 days progarmme called YAMUNA MAHA UTSAV. To clean as much as possible of the poly bags and flowers from repeating error of putting flowers and poly bags again unto the river. All over India the festival season has started within Ganesh Chaturthi hence we must take action now. We are also organizing Door to Door campaigning to educate uniform people in addition to touching almost 2 lace school children to help in our endeavor.
our country…a neat and clean country which they dreamt of. Lets join hands for this Noble and Spiritual Mission.
Our organization, YFF, has undertaken a project to clean the rivers of INDIA starting with The YAMUNA, which will be starting from Delhi .
Awaiting a positive response at your earliest convenience.
With kind regards,
A humble citizen

To :- All Patriotic Pakistanis.
Dear Sir/Madam.
Nowadays, the entire Pakistani nation is fighting a battle of life and death against terrorism. Obviously, the terrorists are fighting on behalf of their masters who have plans to either dismember Pakistan or at least strip it from its nuclear weapons. Obviously the will of nation and the determination of the entire security apparatus, to defend Pakistan with their blood, is standing in the way of the nefarious designs of the enemies of nuclear Pakistan.
However, one thing seems clear that this fight of the survival of the nation will be a long drawn battle. And consequently, our security forces which includes armed forces, F.C., rangers, police forces etc. will be offering more and more sacrifices for the motherland. No doubt central and provincial governments and respective departments look after heirs of our martyrs well, according to available resources and their rules and regulations.
It is the need of the hour that entire population of Pakistan and expatriate Pakistanis come forward on a voluntary basis, to financially support the heirs of martyrs, whose loved ones have have laid down their lives, for our safe and better tomorrow.
In this regard, it is proposed that the government should take the initiative to mobilize the public opinion and take the following action.
1. Declare the salary of entire people serving in all the security forces/agencies ( armed forces, F.C., police service, intelligence agencies, rangers etc.) as tax free. Plus, they should also be exempted from property tax.
2. Government should create a fund with initial investment of 100 crores ( amount to be released from US grant of Kerry Lugar bill.) Rest of the amount to be collected as donations from overseas and local Pakistanis on a continuous basis, till such time the war with terrorists continues. This fund should be managed by persons of very good repute from government and non government sectors like Abdus Sattar Edhi, Syed Baber Ali, Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim, Justice(R) Bhagwandas and Cowasjee etc. It is proposed that heirs of each security forces martyr be paid Rupees one crore, as a humble tribute and contribution, for their future welfare, from their fellow countrymen.
Thank you.

A Ghalib’s Ghazal Translation in English, by Syed Shahab Uddin Ahmad (Late).
All hopes elude and prospects fail,
When death must come why then these sleepless nights.
There was a time when heart I smiled away,
Now naught there is to win my smile.
I know that piety goodness breeds,
But O! the heart reluctant feels.
Something there is that holds my tongue,
Else what cannot the words convey.
Why should I not wail in anguish?
My love searches for me when my wailing stops.
The stain on my heart cannot be seen,
Nor the odour coming out of it can be smelled.
So lost in the maze of thoughts I dwell,
Not knowing ought of my own self.
I long for death to come, but woe?
It only seems to flit away.
How will you Ghalib Ka’ba face,
Ashmed of self you do not seem.

i really don’t know what to write, for word are too small and sapless in such times. Any graffit written on the walls of our hearts would go unnoticed and unread … For we are the inmates of a ‘citadel of fear’…
Whats going on in our country can anyone tell mePLEASE?
I see my cities my people the innocent kids and their mother, the men and youth bathed in blood every day.
The burnt and mutilated bodies… those fotage on TV… It feels so real so close as if death is hovering around us all the times.
I am a muslim and am trained and brought up in a fashion that I have a strong ‘iman’ (faith) in a life after death and all but still I can not understand that where is ‘Allah’ our ‘Rub’? ” Mata jaa nusrul-Allah? (when will Allah salvate us?) Where is He who is the only one we worship… for we kneel infront of Him alone… we do not look for refuge in our corrupt leadership… the vultures the vampires who sucked the very blood from this country.
It no one but Him… we have no one but Him…
Can anyone tell me please ‘when will Allah salvate us?’

I would like to suggest that the State Emblem of Pakistan, which was approved by the central government in 1954, needs to be slightly modified, in line with the changed realities.
The shield in the center of the Emblem, with four partitions, is still showing two crops (Jute & Tea, connected to the then East Pakistan) along with Cotton & Wheat.
As such, the government of the day is requested to order replacement of the images of jute & tea with another two major crops of Pakistan i.e. Sugarcane & Rice , on the State Emblem of Pakistan.
