Take this particular piece of the celebrated sage's poetry that Raza has put up at his website. What exactly is Bulleh Shah saying, if anything? Well, I love God and there are plenty of misguided people whose reaction to what I say is often an incoherent cry of "kafir". Should I say to them "yes, yes, OK I am kafir"? Doesn't make sense to me, sorry. Unthinking veneration accorded to Bulleh Shah is not worthy of a true human being. As for the mullahs and their fanatical adherents, they would be only too pleased to issue a "kafir fatva" on the grounds of anyone questioning their dogmatic beliefs.
