India is home to some spectacular Buddhist, Jain and Hindu architecture. I think this was a comment made my someone else on your blog as well – when in India do visit some non-muslim places as well. The quiet and serenity that it houses besides being an architectural wonder is what draws me to it even if it is often times only in the realms of my mind or vicariously through moments captured on camera. The burnt orange and the rust maroons lend a calm and an innate depth to the monument. Fatehpur Sikri lingers on in my mind even today almost like an unforgettable tune even though it is the beauty of the Taj Mahal that awes and humbles me when I visit Agra. Raza, was this your first visit there? This is one of my favorite places too! What I liked about the architecture was that the structures were ventilated in such a way that there would be no need for air-conditioning even at the peak of summer, like many other buildings dating back to that period that I've been to. Quite amazing really! I've read that the place had to be abandoned because of lack of natural sources of water, which is such a pity, since it is all so beautiful. You will, Insha-Allah! :)
