Although it is true that the need of the hour probably is a compromise formula, in view of the overall situation in Pakistan, it is equally true that Justice Chaudhary was wrongly deposed. If there really were a court of law where he could file a case and which would deliver an unbiased verdict, he would probably not only have been restored to his position, but also have been paid appropriate compensation for the harassment caused, in addition to cost of litigation. Perhaps a compromise formula could include a tacit agreement whereby Justice Chaudhry would be restored to his position, but agree to not take suo moto notice of the corruption charges against President Zardari, even as he would not do anything to prevent the law from taking its own course if such cases were to be re-filed in the courts.
