Harvinder is right. I converted to Islam then left because of casteism among Muslims. My so called friends who still are friends with me, used to message me that I was of different blood than them just because there was one Afghan leader in their geanology and due to him they all considered themselves Afghan and always subtly tried to let me go low in studies and wealth. When I was completing engineering from the top engineering college in India, a sayyid used to claim to me that he was the highest caste and nobler birth, all subtly. {EDITED} I respect muslims and islam. But the inherent Arab worship in Islam is sure to destroy Islam. I have seen casteism in Islam only among muslims and many Julahas were discriminated by muslims pathans and sayyids; the alternate versions being absent in Hinduism I never suffered casteism in Hindus and indeed they are more secular and open-minded than all muslims combined. I used to be a heavy Hindu-basher and denied all goods. But now I feel sorry for myself for not seeing ground realities. I don' know if you will allow this comment but please let it be here so some may know about the cruel realities {EDITED}. Who desires a world of opression and inhumanity and indignity than a madman? I am not a madman! I am a secular human!!

'Admittedly these incidences are on a lesser scale than in India' I object this sentance in your article you can not paint the whole country with same colour there are some regions where the hardliners are active but in urban and among educated Indians casteism is not practiced unlike pakistan where you said that in educated punjabis will not shy away from references to caste characteristics in their conversations.
