The ones who like the method of Ibn-al-Arabi must read Prof. Ahmad Rafique Akhtar. They will certainly be amazed about how badly Sufism is portrayed during different period of times.
Absolutely must for people whol like pragmatic approach, reasoning and claimant of knowledge "ILM"

It is very unfortunate that no one is highlighting/discussing actual thing "ILM" in which Syed Ali Hijwairi excelled. Most of people are either just following rituals or blaming & relating the wrongdoings/mistakes of ignorant muslims to the teachings of Great Saint

Brother Mansoor, if anyone even thinks that visiting a mazaar is assigning partners to Allah[SWT] then he needs his head read. We commence with Allah and we end with Allah, altho this is just according to our limited comprehension. Muslims have the Quran and Hadith but they are still struggling to be in tune with Allah*. Revelation has ceased with the last Prophet#, so Allah* is so merciful that He* provides us with Guides like these great Shaykhs to help us along this very difficult path of life. These Shaykhs keep our iman alive and spiritually attune us in Allah* consciousness. We need them they don't need us. Keep the love my brother. W/S

For Mansoor: I am surprised, disturbed, and angered at your comment. I apologize for that. When a man follows the lines of Sufis, the Mystics, he never ever believes that Prophet, Peace be upon Him, is like a normal human being because Koran itlsef says that 'Say I am a Human like you but I receive Revelation'. You are holding one part of verse (a human like yours) and forgetting the other (Revelation). If Prophet, Peace be upon Him, is like us, why dont we get the Revelation. The fact is that Prophets are Diamonds, and we are pebbles of the road, though Diamond and pebble both are stones. In Sufism even your Master (Murshid) is of paramount importance and considering him like your-own-self is a great mistake. The Wali Allah's life and death must not be intermingled with general public's death (see Al Jasia: verse 22). The people who visit Hazrat Data Darbar are not doing shirk because it is not shirk at all. The spiritual magnetism of that place is high that it has potential to transform one's life. Scientifically a thought is the electrical pulse(s) therefore any external magnetic force would cause to alter it. If you live in the company of stupids, it is likely that one you will become stupid, and you may not know (of course, people would notice).

Hazrat Imam Shafai describes that 'whenever I used to need guidance in Hadith or even my personal problems, I used to go to Hazrat Imam-e-Azam's Mazaar and used to pray at his Qaber Shareef and I was always fulfilled'. These Imams are much more smart than us, of course.

Therefore, if you do not agree with the important and majesty of Aulia Allah, then leave the school of thought of Imam Muhayuddin Ibn-e-Arabi's Wahadat-ul-Wajud in which the The Oberver, Observation, and the Observed are One Single Him, and He Himself Sees Himself. This Theory is the theory of all Aulia and visiting the Mazaar and using the Vaseela is the foundation. So follow it completely or deny it completely. Do not be the passenger of two boats.

Thanks

I have serious problem with virtual deifying of mystics and pious people. I, myself am a great fan of mystics and mysticism, in particular, an ardent fan of Mohiuddin Ibn Al Arabi. Having said that, I get very uneasy when I hear about celebrations and ritualistic behaviors at shrines and mausoleums of such people.
In favor of my argument, I would like to quote ayat 6 of surah Fussilat:

41:6 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah. so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,-

or ayat 110 of srah Kahf:

18:110 Say: "I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me, that your Allah is one Allah. whoever expects to meet his Lord, let him work righteousness, and, in the worship of his Lord, admit no one as partner.

My point is when Allah is telling us through Prophet (SAW) that he too is a human being just like those to whom he is conveying Allah's message and the Only Source is Allah, Himself then doesn't the behavior of populace constitute "shirk?"
