Correction of the first paragraph:

And btw, why are we (including me to be honest) more upset at massacre of 53 people who died in Islamabad as compared to dozens of thsoe who are being killed everywhere else in Paksitan (especially in the tribal areas) since the last few years?

Being illiterate, backward and poor does not mean anyone has a license to kill them and it certainly does not mean no one should be bothered…
Perhaps this blast was their way (no matter how wrong it is) of reminding us what we are doing to them…

But the point I was making was that we need to know the root cause of every problem.
Even if we keep killing the nuke the whole NWFP, this wave of voilence won’t stop unless and until we address the core issues.
America´s continued aggression, and the social, economic and every other type of oppression of all the people of Pakistan in general and those of the smaller provinces in particular are some of the core issues in my humble opinion.

Yes, a very well written piece. But the “unthinkable” is becoming thinkable. I heard someone the other day say: God doesn’t like two types of people: those who associate other gods with Him, and those who have lost hope. In fact, those who lose hope start believing in false gods.

I don’t think it’s a question of democracy or musharraf; it’s that the same fundamental structures of power are in place and it’s hard to imagine a functioning democracy without a large middle class and civil society.

anyway, keep blogging away. Reading your blog is something to look forward to amongst the doom and gloom.
