It's just another interpretation amongst countless other interpretations so I wonder how many will seriously accept it? Those who want to believe in their own interpretations will do so regardless of what some theologian from Turkey says. I am not sure if the post Ataturk Turkey even has any religious credibility. Various options are being tried (though they are not old) but are getting more limelight now. The link that you gave regarding revision of hadith - there is one in which the whole verses of Quran are being removed that, according to the people, incite bigotry and hatred. (http://www.reformislam.org/) Then we have people who are trying to know what words of Quran actually mean and revising them (http://islamicreform.org/) We live in interesting times :) There is this ‘urge’ in muslim world to establish defenses against Islam-criticism.
