Islam is a great religion and it carries the massage of brotherhood, love and harmony with it. But few so called Jihadis have defamed islam as a religion of terror. Now it is responsibility of young generation of Pakistan to free the nation from the shackles of these extremist religious forces. I am a management student in Bangalore, India. I am a Hindu. I have many Muslim friends studying in my class. We live with each other with love and harmony, issue of Hindu-muslim never comes in between our friendship, because we respect each other's religions. We Hindu, congratulate our muslim friends on Eid and they celebrate our Diwali. I and my muslim friends believe that such type of religious harmony and acceptance should be developed in Pakistan too. We often discuss the separation of Pakistan from India in 1947 and regret it. Had the Indian nation been united after 1947, or if even today again India and Pakistan get united instead of fighting with each other, it can become the world's most powerful and prosperous nation. I would welcome the views of Pakistani youngsters on my mail ID manish7lakhawat@yahoo.in Thanks, Manish Lakhawat, Bangalore, India. I totally agree with you Raza. Not to forget the Senator Dianne Feinstein's statement that all cross border attacks carried out by US Drones were being launched from US military bases "within" pakistan, hence pakistani government approval has always been there and will always be there. Some of the opinions talk about "moderate" forces making it to the assembly yet fall short of analyzing how these "moderate" forces have become a bigger sellout to "Shadow Powers" rather than the so called and much hated "Jihadis" about whom we have no idea...we know they are a terror and they are about to attack but where, whom and when - that we arent told... the creation of fear to legitimize goverment has always been employed to strengthen one's own hold over state...while the state suffers the goverment enjoys unprecedented support from external bodies for managing a lawless region... I thinks it is too immature to jump to conclusions about Jihadis or Salafi Led organizations that orchestrate such attacks... we need to take a step back and see this in a more wider perspective... lack of evidence points a little more to government rather than the "jihadis" Democracy is not the solution to anything especially in nation-states... the power of people is just a lip service to much versted interests...as Benjamin Barber himself says that Democracy does a greater damage to countries where the culture and social / political setup is not ready to accept it, rather than monarchy or for that matter dictatorship... the end result should be a prosperous nation rather than democracy.... the way forward is to search for deep links within the nation structure rather than aimlessly blame the Jihadis or some terrorist organizations I wish Khalid Hassan sheds some light on how a link is established between Salafi Jihadism and the current incidence.... its very difficult to acknowledge such a piece of writing unless otherwise Khalid Hassan himself knows details that are otherwise uknown to public... We need to move a step back and see what beholds in the wider picture... the opinions, analysis and blame games are as immaturish as the people who conduct it... It is now imperative upon the masses especially the ones in Lahore to rise against this act of brutality. I agree with Khalid Hasan's premise. Sadly people like him are based in Washington DC. So civil society in Pakistan needs to protest these jihadis, who are good at one thing. Perfecting the art of cowardice. There should be mass condemnation of perversion of religion. As someone living in Karachi and fearful of harm both mental and physical to young children, we stand united but in deep sorrow as it reminds us of our own losses in our once peaceful city Moderate forces have made it to the assembly.
