[yes, yes, you have read thousands of books
but you have never tried to read your own self
you rush in, into your Mandirs, into your Mosques
but you have never tried to enter your own heart
futile are all your battles with Satan
for you have never tried to fight your own desires]

It’s a haunting poem. But why do we need to fight with our desires? Why can’t we co-exist peacefully with them?
I understand we all can be complete human beings only if we are brave enough to undertake solitary (and intensely lonely) excursions into the labyrinths of our heart. And our innermost desires, dreams, fears, demons live, die, born, and multiply in its velvety darkness. So, does entering the heart necessarily mean to engage in conflict with our desires?

Beautiful and very important thoughts! Its a tough question to ask, wether one should fight one’s desire or see where it leads to. For with the latter, you are in an adventure which might take you to many places. While with the former, you learn to “master” your own self. And once you can do that, anything’s possible
I am slightly nudging towards the former position, though both seem to be important. Maybe one should first accomplish the former and then experiment with the latter.
Guess I am being too “philosophical” here.
