You said "The virtues contained in the tenets like liberality, generosity, asceticism, altruism, and piety were all traced to Islam too."

How ignorant are you? Read the Al-Qur'an before making such a stupid comment!

You will find no tenets like liberality, generosity, asceticism, altruism, and piety in Al-Qur'an.

I remember having read about Akbar and his Dine-e-Ilahi and Nau ratan in history text-books at school. He was probably the wisest of all Mughal emperors of India, I think.

I used to have a lot of comic books about the qissae of Akbar and Birbal, when I was much younger. :)

Wary as i am of institutionalized religion, Din-e-ilahi sounds like an all encompassing set of beliefs!

Great link, Raza! Thanks!
Unfortunately, the last line is only too true. I don't know how things are in your part of the world but over here the narrowness of people's horizons is breathtaking. Alas, the influence of the effin' saudis is only too evident.

As the famous line goes: "who will rid us of these turbulent priests?"

Hope all else is well?

Do pop in. Some great cafes have opened up here. what on earth are you doing in the Philipenes?
