The Post Office, Murree - an old image

Filed under: Uncategorized — RR @ 10:59 am

General Post Office sits at the top of the commercial Murree Mall. The Post Office in Murree provided mail services to the British troops and their dependants and remains a central hub of hill station activity.

  1. Wonderful and nostalgic photo. GPO Murree is still one of the most important landmarks in Murree. Its look has all changed though. The stairs are there but the building is all concrete/marble/tiles now.

  3. Pardon my ignorance, though I did try to find it on Google, but where is this place?

Incidentally, thanks to your post I expanded my knowledge base; I found out that ‘murree’ is also a kind of thread work that comes out of Rajasthan, a state in Western India.

  4. I have a photo of the Mall dated 1870 - then it looks like a tourist resort - now its just. :|

I Me My: Murree is the Pakistani equivalent of Simla, a hill resort close to Islamabad.
