Basant Moods – Lahore and Beyond
"you're either here or you're a square - Lahore to host biggest ever Basant celebrations today.."
Tonight, So there will be fun and frolic all day long and shall continue into the early hours of the morning. There have been efforts to ban the event due to the dangers it poses to human life. But the Courts and the government relented.

WE HOLD AND UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE LOSING OUR “CULTURE” BY NOT PERMITTING THE FESTIVAL OF
“BASANT”.
I WOULD ANTICIPATE THAT U WOULD TAKE NOTICE AS WE ALL NATIONS ARE QUITE DEPRESSED BY THE VICINITY CREATED…PLEASE DO TAKE NOTICE ON BASANT FESTIVAL …AND INSTEAD OF PIN POINTING ITS PRO’S AND CONS WE ARE LOSING OUR CULTURE./..DEPLETING OUR HISTORY…..
WITH REGARDS …

Please involve specialists, engineers to evaluate the negative impacts of basant and how to rectify them. My solution is as follows
Please select a land area at the suburn of Lahore, Multan etc with the help of wind rose. Estimate the normal direction of the wind most of the times. Allocate a land as a flying kite park where flying kite is allowed. The quality of the thread can be checked by the quality inspectors there at all the time. The kites and threads shops should be inside that arena. The TV channel should be giving the wind direction news and chances of changes in wind direction. Two days should be allocated for Basant. For safety point of view, either motorcyclists should have a safety collar wire for riding or they shouldn’t be allow to move during the two days, i.e., saturday and sunday around mid of Feburary. These holidays won’t make any negative impact on economy. However, I expect economy to rise with positive turn over.
I request government to consider people’s disappointment and struggle during the whole year. They really want to cut loose for few days to forget their vows and worries. Please allow them to do so for a healthy nation’s sake.

February 21st, 2009 - 19:35
This news was in the Dubai newspaper Gulf News today(21 Feb)”
“Hundreds of Pakistanis gathered in the Sonapur area in Dubai yesterday to celebrate the annualkite flying festival(Basant). The festival is celebrated to welcome the arrival of spring. The celebrations contiued with a colorful freworks dispaly in the evening. The paper kites are hand made in Pakistan. The thread is glass coated and the competiton involves trying to cut competitors strings in mid air.Kite flyers often tape their fingers toprevent themfrom being cut by the sharp string.Another Basant kite flying festival is scheduled for March 5 and 6 in Abu Dhabi…..
Isn’t it ironical that this festival is being celebrated in these Muslim gulf states without any problems and is banned in Lahore!

Basant ko maaro goli – Physics ko pakdo. Zaher khaane ka maqaam hai ! There are not 100 (hundred) qualified teachers in Pakistan to teach Physics !!!
Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology are the life of a nation. If elementary education fails, a nation fails. What is going on in the field of PURE SCIENCES. in Pakistan ? Any answers ?
Bury Cricket and Basant deep… and concentrate fully on Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Pakistanis show great love for an English game Cricket. Why dont they show equal love for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and MATH ?
What is the answer ???
